John Brown: In 1850 he led a small military army of abolitionists killed five pro slavery settlers in the violent vote over slavery known as "bleeding Kansas". In 1859 he also led a small group to capture the federal arsenal at Harper's ferry, Virginia to steal weapons for slave uprising. Considered a hero at the north.
Harriet Beecher Stowe: Published a novel called "Uncle Tom's Cabin". Convinced many people about slavery. The book angered the south.
Dred Scott: He was involved in a case that led to be held by the supreme court about slavery. He lived as a free man for four years, until his master moved him to Missouri and his master died. His master's wife claimed that he was her property so he sued her.
